Fight Back! Education Organizing Project

Public education is critical to rebuilding and defending democracy.  I and a friend are creating a democracy defense manual for teachers and others engaged in defending democratic education. We seek to engage teachers, faculty, families and others in the defense of democratic education. 

If you are following the assaults on Harvard, UCLA, and hundreds of existing education institutions you will recognize the dangers. Harvard and similar nominally private institutions are included in this effort since, like Harvard and Columbia, over 50% of their budgets come from public sources. We will leave the public/private argument for another day.  Clearly nominally private institutions are being compelled to respond to negative public governmental power. 
 
Why this project ? We seek to contribute to expand the base of the political resistance movement in the U.S. We need to recruit and engage a consistently growing a citizens movement.  There are several constituencies  that should be organized,- including education and often unions.  We are preparing for resistance to faculty self-censorship among other issues.

We will keep you informed. For now, if you know a faculty member, teacher, or engaged person, please inform them that a project with this focus is near to publication. We are seeking informed advisors to guide our work. Watch this site for future information.

 While organizing teachers and faculty in this campaign we  ally ourselves with the broad and inclusive resistance program.  We are confident that when we engage persons in defending democratic public education, they will continue their work by working with the appropriate unions n their workplace. That is a part of our effort.
