Ceasefire Now Resolution urges support for an end to violence in Israel and Occupied Palestine
Washington, D.C. (October 16, 2023) — Today, Representatives Cori Bush (MO-01), Rashida Tlaib (MI-12), André Carson (IN-07), Summer Lee (PA-12), and Delia C. Ramirez (IL-03), alongside Representatives Jamaal Bowman (NY-16), Bonnie Watson Coleman (NJ-12), Jesús “Chuy” García (IL-04), Jonathan Jackson (IL-01), Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY-14), Ilhan Omar (MN-05), Ayanna Pressley (MA-07), and Nydia Velázquez (NY-07) announced a resolution urging the Biden Administration to call for an immediate de-escalation and ceasefire in Israel and occupied Palestine, to send humanitarian aid and assistance to Gaza, and to save as many lives as possible. We originally thought this would be a resolution with a few squad members and instead it is being introduced with 13 offices and more to come soon. A huge number of groups endorsed, most with about 15 hours notice. Good news that DSA's National Election Committee has added an Action Network petition supporting this resolution to its phone banking. Much better to support our DSA electeds in Congress than to threaten them with expulsion or offer them a political education course on Palestine. (Two alternatives being offered by ultra caucuses in DSA!)

The Bush et al House Resolution is flawed - it does not call for the release of the hostages.
